Water Based Bonding Primer

Purpose: WB Gray Bonding primer X2578  is a VOC compliant primer (< 1.0 Lbs per gal.)  in
a single package.  Reduce with water and use this product for structural foam plastic or MDF
wood substrates where adhesion or surface defects are problematic.  This medium gray primer
builds film quickly, hides moderate surface defects, and provides a sag-free ground-coat that can
be sanded for smooth finish applications.  Recoat with solvent or waterbase topcoats. WB Gray
Bonding primer X2578  can replace most  solvent base primer products and high VOC
    adhesion promoters.

    Recommended substrates: FL900, FN215, MDF

Mix Ratio: reduce as needed, up to 10% parts by volume with tap water.

use of Zahn cups is not recommended
Start with 12 parts primer to 1 part tap water or ~ 9 oz (fl) per gallon
        Always Mix well  before use

Application:  Use conventional air pressurized, suction feed, or HVLP spray equipment. Stainless
steel is recommended for all waterbase applications. Fluid pressure and air pressure will vary
according to nozzle combination and equipment; note recommended nozzle size 0.055î ‚ 0.070î

Conventional wet films are 6.0 - 8.0 mils.
        Reduced 12:1, a wet film of 6.0 ‚ 8.0 mils will yield between 2.2 ‚ 3.0 mils DFT.
primer will not sag or run at higher wet film thickness.

Sanding and Recoat Schedule (will vary with DFT and shop conditions):

        ambient room temperature: 2 ‚ 3 hours
or
        Flash-off: 30 minutes @ RT and  Force Dry 30 minutes @ 135 -150 F

    Coverage @ 12:1 reduction

250 sq. feet per gal (coating) per 2.5 mils DFT @ 100% transfer efficiency

    Clean up

ß   Water when wet
