GENERAL INFORMATION

PHYSICAL PROPERTIES

APPLICATION

Water-Bake WR is a thermo-set water-reducible acrylic. Volatile organic compound content is less than 2.5 lbs/gallon coating less water. Water-Bake WR provides a smooth durable finish suitable for metal office furniture, enclosures, and shelving.

Water-Bake WR is applied to chemically pretreated metal via conventional air spray, HVLP, air-less or air-assisted electrostatic equipment. Where needed, set in-line heaters between 125íF-135íF max for optimum viscosity reduction. Available from low to high gloss, Water-Bake WR can be custom color matched to suit all appearance specifications. Reduction and clean up is with tap water.

See MSDS for further information about health, safety and storage guide.

CLEAN UP: Clean all equipment as soon as possible with water.

CAUTION: Avoid Freezing; if frozen allow to defrost at room temperature.

Physical and chemical tests were done on a "Q-panel R-46-I" steel panel iron phosphate.

1. Recommended usage: OEM office furniture; metal enclosures, steel shelving; wherever a smooth, hard durable coating is required.

2. Applicable Substrates: Pretreated steel and aluminum.

3. Method of Application: Spray, air-pressurized, HVLP and airless, air-assisted, electrostatic.

4. Solids By Volume: 41-46%

5. Solids by Weight: 53-64%

6. Weight Per Gallon: 9.9lbs/gal-11.7 lbs/gal

7. V.O.C. Per Gallon (as recíd): 1.6 lbs/gal-1.9 lbs/gal

8. Pencil Hardness: 3H

9. Cross Hatch Adhesion: 5B

10. Taber Abrasion: Less than 60mg loss per 1000 cycles, 1kg, CS-10

11. 1/8" Conical Mandrel Bend: No cracking or adhesion failure.

12. Impact, Direct/Indirect: 120/120 inch pounds.

13. Chemical/Solvent Resistance: 50 double rubs

A. Lacquer Thinner- No Effect

B. Isopropyl Alcohol- No Effect

C. MEK- No Effect

"No Effect" is defined as no permanent softening of film and/or permanent change in appearance.

Note: Items 4,5,6,&7 will vary with color and gloss.

Conventional air-pressurized spray equipment or HVLP spray equipment as well as airless, air-assisted airless and electrostatic spray systems may be used. In-line heaters are recommended with the airless systems, to assist with viscosity reduction.

Reduction: Water-Bake WR is reduced (4) four parts paint to (1) one part tap water. Further reduction in viscosity may be obtained through the use of Inline heaters. Viscosity will vary depending on color & gloss. Note this product is thixotropic and will thin out and flow under the shear condition of the spray process.

Recommended Film Thickness: Smooth coat wet film 2.5-3.5 mils, Smooth coat dry film 1.0-1.5 mils

Flash Off: After spraying on a smooth wet film, allow paint to flash off 10-15 min.

Bake Cycle: After flash-off bake for 12-20 min at 300-325íF
